Junior League Update 6th March 2017

As the various junior league campaigns reach the final stages the following is the status of each team in its respective league.

Metro League Div 1 (2nd XV).  The 2nds have had a tough season participating in a league that includes the respective 2nds teams from six AIL Division 1A clubs. With one game to play Old Wesley lies in second last place and irrespective of the result of the last match that will be our final league position.  Old Wesley will then play in a straight relegation play-off match against last placed Blackrock.

Metro League Div 3 (3rd XV). By contrast the 3rds are runaway winners of their league with 13 wins out of 13 and cannot be caught.  With one game to play Old Wesley are top of the league and a massive 18 points ahead of second placed Wanderers. The 3rds will play in a League Final and Promotion Play-off against Wanderers, who also cannot be caught.  However there is one caveat.  If the 2nds are relegated to Metro Division 2 the 3rds cannot be promoted to Metro Division 2 as the rules of the competition do not allow two teams from the one club to participate in the one league.

Metro League Div 5 (4th XV) Our 4ths have also had a very successful season.  They have won their league campaign with 13 wins out of 14 and finishing 9 points clear of 2nd placed Clontarf. They too will play in a League Final and Promotion Play-off against Clontarf.

Metro League Div 9 (5th XV) The 5ths are top of their league just one point clear of Stillorgan, and with Clontarf and AIB also in hot pursuit.  Old Wesley has three games remaining including one against Stillorgan this Saturday.  So if you are not travelling to Ballynahinch why not drop along and give your support.
