Purcell Cup Final –  Old Wesley 38 Dublin University 10

The Under 20s made it 3 cup final wins out of 3 for Old Wesley when they beat Dublin University (Trinity) in the Purcell Cup Final.  Old Wesley led 17 nil mid way through the first half and 24 – 10 at half time.  The try scorers were Mark Hallam, Tim Hawe and Matthew Bursey. The students had the lions share of possession in the third quarter but were unable to convert it into points, and when Bursey crossed again just on the one hour mark there was no way back for Trinity.  Jack Corrigan crossed just on full time to make it a comprehensive 38-10 victory for Old Wesley.

There are a number of well known Old Wesley surnames in this team who are sons of former Old Wesley players.  These include Bursey, Poff, Maybury, Hawe and Chandler. Congratulations to these and all of the other members of the Under 20 squad and we wish you all a long and enjoyable rugby career in Old Wesley.
